Bangla Pakori Courtesy CG

Here's a recipe for Bengali Pakora (Pakodi):

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Besan (gram flour)
  • 1/4 cup Rice flour
  • 1 Onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 Potato, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 Green chili, finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ginger paste
  • 1/2 teaspoon Garlic paste
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Red chili powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as needed
  • Oil for frying

Instructions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine besan, rice flour, cumin seeds, turmeric powder, red chili powder, ginger paste, garlic paste, and salt. Mix well.
  2. Gradually add water to the mixture while stirring continuously to form a smooth and thick batter.
  3. Add sliced onions, potatoes, and green chili to the batter. Mix well, ensuring all the slices are coated with the batter.
  4. Heat oil in a deep frying pan or kadai on medium heat.
  5. Once the oil is hot, drop small portions of the batter mixture into the oil using a spoon or your fingers.
  6. Fry the pakoras until they turn golden brown and crisp on all sides. Fry them in batches to avoid overcrowding the pan.
  7. Remove the pakoras from the oil using a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel to remove excess oil.
  8. Serve the Bengali Pakoras hot with your favorite chutney or sauce.

Enjoy your delicious Bengali Pakoras!
